Overview

After months of searching, Ember and her friends have finally located the Sword of Light, the only weapon capable of destroying Queen Aneira and ending her rule. This is Ember’s destiny. Or so she thought. Now a pact to save the man she loves changes everything.

One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is her undeniable connection to Eli Dragen, who is sexy, gorgeous, and even more frustrating. But her problems go way beyond him.

As the war mounts between the Seelie and Unseelie (Light and Dark) and more truths come to light, Ember’s world is ripped even further apart. She learns there may not be an end to the unrelenting abyss of lies and secrets that have been kept from her.

In this final installment in the Darkness Series, when the truth comes to light, Ember will learn some things are better left in the dark as her world is ripped even further apart. It is no longer a rabbit hole, but a never-ending black void full of endless lies, betrayals, and secrets.

The fight for Earth has begun, and Ember will have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save millions of innocent lives and those she loves.

But this price may be too high—even for her.

My Take

Blood Beyond Darkness is the final book of the Darkness Series and all I can say is I cannot believe it is over! Our story picks up exactly where the previous book left us hanging. All seems lost as Ember and Eli have been captured by the Seelie Queen. Josh has betrayed the group and Kennedy has been kidnapped by Lorcan. After things couldn't seem to get any worse, an unexpected event leaves Ember vulnerable and distraught.

War between the Light and Dark is eminent and Ember must find a way to stop Aneira, the Seelie Queen, before it is too late. But at what cost is Ember willing to hinder the Queen's plans? Ember's decision in this book is one I do not envy. Will she save the world or the love of her life? Is the life of the one worth the lives of many? The biggest question is . . . once sacrifices have been made, were they enough or was all lost in vain?

I think I read through this book in about 2 days, and that's just because I started during the work week! This is another page turner by Stacey. I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happens and if Eli and Ember would wind up together. If you read the post for Book #3, you'll remember I stated that Stacey doesn't leave nice, neat packages for the reader. Well, by the end of this book, I felt like she had taken the gift and thrown it in a washtub of blood, stomped on it, and threw it across the room before handing it to me and saying "You're Welcome!" This was certainly a roller-coaster of a book, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Stacey also ensures that the questions we have throughout the series have a measure of resolution . . . perhaps not a resolution we planned on however.

Overall, I give this book and the series

The Darkness Series as a whole is one I will treasure! Between Ember and Eli, Kennedy, Ryan, and even Cal and Simmons, I fell in love with these characters. The whole journey was amazing and now that their story is over, I can only wait patiently for Stacey to present her next book!
